How to Remove Toyota Camry Wiper Blades

How to Remove Toyota Camry Wiper Blades

The Toyota Camry's wiper blades should be checked every six months and replaced if they are peeling or cracking. While traditional rubber compounds should last six months, when replacing your Camry's wipers, you can opt for a higher-performance silicone wiper blade. These wipers can offer increased resistance to the elements, depending on the manufacturer. The blade length will depend on the year of your Camry but most can be purchased from an auto-parts store. Of course, the first step is to remove the wiper.

Difficulty:
Moderately Easy

Instructions

    • 1

Grab the wiper arm up towards the wiper-blade assembly and pull the wiper arm away from the windshield. You will feel resistance. This is normal. You will not damage the wiper-arm assembly. The wiper arm can be pulled so that it is perpendicular or near-vertical to the windshield. At this point, you will feel tension on the arm drop off. This will "lock" the wiper arm in place.

    • 2

Swing the wiper-blade assembly so that it is perpendicular to the wiper arm.

    • 3

Push down on the release tab on the top of the wiper blade assembly. You should be looking at the blade of the wiper. This is actually the bottom of the wiper. On the underside of the wiper (the actual top of the wiper blade assembly), there will be a small plastic tab. Push down on this tab.

Pull the wiper blade towards the passenger side of the vehicle and away from the wiper arm (for both blades). The wiper blade will come off the arm.
