How to Replace the Fuses in a Toyota Tacoma
No matter if you have the original 1995 Toyota Tacoma or a more current model, the differences between the years are few. When it comes to fuses, you can easily replace a blown one yourself using the same process. Change the fuse for a new one quickly and for little to no cost.

things you'll need:
- Same rating fuse

- 1
Turn your truck off before you work with the fuse boxes. Find one fuse box in the engine area and the other in the passenger's cab on the driver's side under the dash.
- 2
Remove the fuse box cover to reveal the fuses. Pay attention to the inside cover because it lists the fuse locations. For example, a 2005 Toyota Tacoma has the cigarette lighter fuse in slot 47 of the engine compartment fuse box.
- 3
Pull out the fuse and inspect the inner wire. A blown fuse has a melted or open wire.
- 4
Find a new fuse that has the same rating as the one you removed. In Step 2's example, the 2005 Toyota Tacoma uses a 15-amp fuse for its cigarette lighter.
- 5
Push the replacement fuse into place and close the fuse box. Make sure the new fuse works once you have started your Tacoma again.
