How to Replace the Fuses in a Toyota Tundra

How to Replace the Fuses in a Toyota Tundra

The Toyota Tundra has only been around since 2000, but you can experience a blown fuse at any time. When this happens, whether you have the regular cab, double cab or CrewMax body style the steps used to replace the fuse are the same. Change the fuse out for a new one quickly without help.

Difficulty:
Easy

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • Replacement fuse
    • 1

Turn off your truck before you change out the fuse. Find the two fuse boxes in your Toyota Tundra; one under the hood behind the battery and the other inside the vehicle, under the dash and near the emergency brake.

    • 2

Open the cover and read the inside list to find the fuse you need to replace. For example, in a 2003 Toyota Tundra the cigarette lighter fuse is under the dash in the slot labeled CIG.

    • 3

Pull the fuse out and verify the wire inside is melted or broken. Find a new fuse of the same rating. The lighter example in Step 2 would use a 15 amp min fuse.

    • 4

Push the new fuse into the open slot securely. Close the fuse box.

    • 5

Restart your Toyota Tundra. Check the fuse and make sure it's working again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always replace the fuse in question with one of the same amperage so as not to blow another fuse or create any other electrical issues.
