Locate the engine control unit (ECU) installed in your Toyota. The specific location will depend on the model in which the 3.0 liter engine is installed. Typically, the ECU can be found at the rear of the engine bay on the passenger side.

Ensure that your Toyota is powered off. Pull out the metal ECU box and disconnect the wiring harness that's attached to the ECU assembly.
